Goodbye Miss Chique & Stylish?…

Hi Guys,

Sorry I have not been active on the blog lately.

To be honest after summer vacation and getting back to work everything has been kind of overwhelming.

Also coming to the realization that blogging will only be a hobby right now. Well at least for me.

I even considered closing misschiqueandstylish. com altoghether and maybe rebranding my Instagram to make it… well different somehow.

But after talking about the pros and cons of it I decided to let it be.. for now at least.

The reason I created misschiqueandstylish.com was to have a creative outlet and reminding people that no matter your budget you can always have class and style.

You do not need all the latest trends and all the newest designer items to be chic. All you need is your creativity and think about what you spend your money on.

I did not name my blog this because I felt I was her : Miss Chique & Stylish – but because I wanted everyone to feel like her when they walked through the door in the morning.

Also to show girls that you don’t need to be a size zero to be a blogger!

This issue is often the first thing people comment on when they find out that I blog! .. they look at me odd and say “but you are not the skinniest”.. you probably all know the looks that comes with it..the ‘oh you think you know better’ look!

and no I am not and I am not trying to be!

I am just showing you and the world my daily looks because I love fashion and styling.

All of my fellow bloggers all know the struggle.  The huge competition especially on Instgram.

The fact that many are buying followers and brands dont seem to give a f…! They work with these so called influencers anyways.

The fact that the amount of followers still seem to mater more than the content you create.

I could go on and on about this matter but…. well I dont want to rant…..

So here is what I am going to do.

My plan for the rest of the year…

Keep posting my outfits – well because I loooove fashion and thats why i started this in the first place.

Furthermore and most importantly, I keep going, because I love the little community that I have become a part of and the lovely people I have met because of blogging!

Hopefully meeting up with some fellow bloggers soon and create new great content.

And maybe in the future I will consider rebranding again.

What keeps you motivated in this business?

  2. Don’t be discouraged by the competition out there and I’ve always told people that your blog should be more important than your socials because your blog will always be yours and under your control. Socials could disappear one day and all of that content on Instagram could one day very well disappear – you just never know!

If you want to chat about rebranding then let me know because I rebranded my blog from CH1K (which was hard for people to remember) to just Helen Chik so I know the thought process that goes into it!

  3. I am so glad you wrote this post! Girl don’t give up and keep up this hobby. We ALL go through this phase. I’ve been through it time and time again and I just tell myself that I started this in the beginning to have fun and showcase my style and hopefully inspire someone. It could be just one person or thousands but it doesn’t matter. As long as you are having fun and enjoying it keep it up. I think you are amazing and have great style and I know I am not the only one. I think the saturated market definitely gets us down as does the competition but we can’t let that affect what we want to do or achieve. Keep up the good work and have fun with it! Xoxo, Christine

  4. Everyone goes through this! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US! I think we all kind of struggle with wondering if it’s worth it, and even a bit of feeling like we have to keep up with what the big times are doing to make it in this industry! It’s definitely a daily struggle to remind ourselves to stay authentic. You seem to be remaining just who you are and I so applause you for that! I love that blogging is really for everyone. Style has no boundaries and I adore that you touched on that topic. You are stunning and I love your style! I’m glad you’ve decided to keep updating! I re-branded last year and I wish I would have waited because I’m already not totally content again. It’s expensive, time consuming, and all over (for me anyway) not a fun thing to do! I also love the idea behind your name! I didn’t realize that’s why your name is what it is!

  5. I can’t believe people have said that to you! That’s so RUDE! Omg girl. I feel you on the struggle. I think everyone is feeling it now especially because blogging has changed so much. It’s not even about content anymore, it’s more about basically being a walking ad. I too thought about shutting down my blog but I think we just need to change our perspective. It’s a hobby and we started it for a reason. I like the idea behind your blog and you should keep at it. At the end of the day social media isn’t something you own or that is yours. Your blog is and always will be.

  6. Totally relatable. I can’t remember the amount of times I’ve felt like quitting. Especially as a working mom there are many things I have to do not only creating content but also making sure to get my life together. It can get totally overwhelming. But at the end of the day I remember the reason why I started my blog in the first place, to express myself and help women out there feel special. I couldn’t agree more with the fact that you don’t have to get the latest trends in order to look stylish you really just have to show your personality throughout your clothes. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Britta, babe just remember why you started and why we all love you. Do it for fun and Im so happy you decided to stay! What you see is what you get with me and I know that’s how you are. That’s why we have been friends for 3 years!! Be the amazing you that we love!!!

  8. I’ve been more and more people giving up and it makes me so sad. I had one friend scale back to just Insta just to maintain her presence while she figures things out. But I hear you – the second there’s no joy in blogging for me, I’d be out too. I feel that everyone has something to share and I just tell myself “why not me.” But I get it becasue sometimes it’s hard not to compare – and so many girls are super cliquish. And we do need more non-size zero bloggers. There are a lot of us in-betweeners (not a zero and not a plus size) that need to represent. Sorry you’re having a hard time. Whatever you do, don’t lose your voice. Represent.

  9. Thank you for being so honest, and I truly believe that the online world needs more people like you. I love that you express yourself, but yet continue to stay true to yourself. I can’t wait to see what is to come for Miss Chique and Stylish, because I always enjoy reading your posts.

  10. Omg I love this post! I totally know how you feel! I have taken so many blogging and Instagram breaks this year because of this. I really needed to step back, reflect and get back to the basics. I love that more bloggers are showing people that you don’t have to be a size 0 to blog! I am far from a 0 and when going to blog parties and events, I honestly feel a little out of place. Thank you for shedding light on this.

  11. Hello Britta,

Honestly, I love all Scandinavian bloggers and must admit that they are the most stylish ever (and you are one of them ofc)! I was struggling with work-life-blogging balance problem as well (and wanted to close my blog too). But girl remember, we are all here to inspire each other, and blogging is an inevitable part of our lives. It’s not just about competition but more about expressing yourself and motivating other people!

  12. Hey Darling,
    Hows you?
Totally Agree with you , I see the same, some people reach in 1-2 days 2-4000 followers lol and even more, and the brands don’t care. I never. Bought followers or likes but Really the Instagram changed sooo much.
They want to us to do sponsored posts so we get more likes etc.
Ps: Love your Outfit, that denim is stunning on you:) Love the full look:)

  13. Thanks for being honest with us. I believe, we are all in the same boat and facing all this every single day. But apparently, this is how it all works. We can either continue doing what we love or pay attention to all these things you named.
But I prefer not to give up because it has become a huge part of my life I couldn’t let go. Btw, I absolutely adore this cosy sweater, and the sunnies are so fab!

  14. Such a beautiful post babe!!! I totally love your blog ever since I discovered and I agree theres so many bloggers in the market but that shouldn’t be something to be intimidated. Now brands and people are looking for quality and not quantity. The fact that you do this because you love is what really matters. Keep the great work and keep inspiring us.

    xoxo

  15. Totally understand how you are feeling! But it would be such a shame as you are so chic and stylish! He, he! Loving this outfit- how good is Only for denim?! I’m a massive fan! Loving the Gucci too!

  16. Like everyone else mentioned, this is a constant struggle amongst all of us. One thing Ihave learned that it is more about content than numbers. Brands tell me the same thing. Please don’t give up on your blog. I always look forward to all your looks and would definitely miss them!
